About

Naveen Havannavar joined the Town Board in January of 2024 following his election in November, 2023. With over two decades of experience as a technology manager, he has a strong background in problem-solving and leading diverse engineering teams, working currently at Paychex and previously at Xerox. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) in Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing & Systems.Naveen currently serves as the Community Outreach Liaison at the India Community Center (ICC) of Rochester and as a Community Advisory Board Member at WXXI/Little Theater. He previously served as chair of the ICC, as a council member on the New York State Hate and Bias Prevention Unit, and served on the Board of Directors at Webster Federal Credit Union.Naveen actively promotes community engagement and outreach. He was honored with the Rochester Business Journal's Forty Under 40 award, which recognized his professional success and commitment to community involvement, and is a Leadership Rochester alumnus.In his free time, Naveen enjoys acting and has appeared in movies, commercials and at Kalidas theater. He is also a certified pilot who enjoys flying single-engine airplanes. He lives in Pittsford with his wife Kate and their two children, Neel and Leela, who both attend Park Road Elementary School. His family and community are at the center of his life, and he is committed to being a positive and productive member of both.

Issues

Infrastructure:
Address the community's long-term infrastructure needs, including sidewalk expansion, road maintenance, and access to critical town resources.
Involve community groups and organizations in gathering input and feedback on infrastructure priorities.
Economic development:
Support local small businesses and entrepreneurs by providing resources and support as a way to expand the local tax base.
Work to attract new businesses to the community by promoting the town's strengths and assets and partnering with chamber of commerce and other economic development organizations.
Public safety:
Revise the town's emergency management and disaster preparedness plans to incorporate the latest tools and technology such as Text alert systems.
Address traffic safety issues through enforcement and traffic calming measures.
Provide resources for community education and outreach on topics such as first aid, crime prevention, and personal safety.
Environmental concerns:
Advocate for a comprehensive energy efficiency plan for all public buildings and facilities, with the goal of reducing energy consumption and emissions.
Promote the adoption of clean, renewable energy sources by offering education about state and federal incentives available for local businesses and residents to invest in solar, wind, and other renewable energy systems.
Coordinate with stakeholders, local businesses and residents to develop a plan that is inclusive, feasible and effective.
